::History::
Argus, designated by Starfleet as "Omega Omicron I" is a small rogue planetoid within the "Pegasus" Nebula in the Delta Quadrant. Due to its unusual placement within the Nebula, Argus has no dominant sun, reciving heat and light from a range of sources within the Nebula itself in order to retain conditions for life.
However conditions on the planet are hardly idyllic, with much of the planet being rocky, barren plains with only a small area of flora and fauna around the equator (Referred to by the Argussian as the "Green Belt" and where most settlements are on the planet).
Starfleet Science has theorised that Argus was once part of a larger, failed planetary system which was catastrophically destroyed millions of years ago, creating the nebula that we see today. Recent archeological surveys wiithin the Pegasus nebula have revealed the unusual element of "protomatter", an extreamly unstable element within the nebula that has long since stayed dormant, suggesting that the Nebula may not even have natural origins.
Most primitive and animal life on Argus evolved around the "Green Belt" of the planet where food and water was plentiful (9% of the 10% surface water comes from rivers, lakes and small seas within the "Green Belt"). Studies of Argussian History have been made difficult by the Xenophobic nature of the Argussian people however, Starfleet has learned that the Argussian were not originally native to the planet but were forced to flee after their original homeworld was destroyed almost 10,000 years ago.
::Environmental::
Around the "Green Belt", Argus is incredibly idyliic with sprawling plains of grass and lush forests, akin to the jungles of the Amazon on Earth. Due to limited space on the planet, only a few Argussian Cities exist on the planet, with the biggest, Chentrilla standing on an island that has been artifically expanded within a huge lake surrounded by forest.
Outside of the "Green Belt", Argus is suprisingly inhospitable, with barren, rocky landscapes and persistant, constant rain pelting the surface of the world. Acid rain showers are also common outside the "Green Belt". Intense plasma storms bombard the surface of the planet causing widespread damage but ingenious, the Argussians have learnt to utilize the violent storms of their home to power most of their cities and technology, as a result, they have built large collectors which convert the plasma discharges into energy.
::Botanical::
Argus has similar flora and fauna to many other M-Class planets with a few variations in colour and size. However the Jungles of Argus in the Green Belt have yielded dangerous species of carnivorous plants that have grown to a huge size. One such plant lays in the ground for an unsuspecting animal or humanoid and then collapses the ground beneath them, making them fall into a pool of digestive acid in order to be consumed.
::Zoological::
Most of the animals native to Argus are very small rodent like creatures with a few non-sentient feline variations but suprisingly smaller due to the environment and less room to expand, meaning many species will be smaller then average for their type.
