The Corax's refit is coming along smoothly. I have specifically requested the Corax be pressed into modern Starfleet service as she is a proven vessel. I never much cared for the larger vessels anyway, something as grand as a Galaxy or Sovereign Class ship can seem somewhat bulky. The Corax will be quick and fast, which is somewhat appealing.
Our return to this universe was not as a glorious as I had expected, according to the ship's chronometer and the chronometer of the U.S.S. Malta, we have only been missing for 21 hours. An entire six months and Starfleet believed we were only gone for 21 hours, seems strange to not see people I haven't seen for months, only for them to think that they saw me yesturday.
Chief D'Kmal informs me that a stunt like what happened with the President is unlikely to happen again so I have allowed him to keep his behavior off record but it does make me wonder if he would have betrayed the ship if given the chance. I have sent him back to active duty and to oversee the refit of the Corax with our new "intelligence" officer, Warrant Officer Cade Skymaller. He was assigned to my ship by Starfleet Intelligence as a "specialist" to improve the ship's functioning however I remain unconvinced. I personally believe he was put here by Starfleet Intelligence to keep an eye on us due to our knowledge of the secret Coaxial Warp Drive Experiment, that resulted in the deaths of the original Corax crew and the vessels departure for almost eighty-two years. From their reaction, I can gather that it may have been an Intelligence Black Project around the time of the Excelsior Trials but was not strictly "legal", hence why nobody had ever heard about it.
I did however receive a call from home, it was my old friend from my Argussian Military days, Sapphire. She informed me that the Etherium had struck again, attacking and destroying one of our colonies on MS-0154335Beta, a small lunar colony on the outskirts of the Pegasus Nebula. She used the same hyper-subspace compression data burst that Doctor Malachite invented when he was developing communication protocols between our ships in the Altia Galaxy and the Milky Way. It seems my people may be in some sort of trouble, however I am not exactly in a position to go help, being in the Milky Way Galaxy, almost a Million Years Away by Starfleet's rather primitive propulsion technology.
I had also chosen to dedicate my life to Starfleet, fleeing the tyranny and arrogance of my people to find a new home here, but part of me feels like I should help them.
And that part never goes away...

The Corax remains on the planet surface of this post-apocalyptic wasteland. It seems evident that there was once a great society on this planet but they were destroyed for some unknown reasons. Surface radiation is playing havoc with the tricorders and phasers and we are not even sure if the emergency transponder will penetrate the atmosphere with sufficient strength for a starship to retrieve us.
However that is not the only thing on my mind;
As I lie here on-board the grounded Corax, which is serving as a shelter at the moment, I cannot help but feel responsible for the death of President Blaser and the 20,000 civilians we were escorting to our new home. Doctor Braveheart has tried to remind me that it was not my fault during his treatment of my injuries but the lost weighs heavily on my mind. Was there something I could have done differently...
These people trusted me to lead them to safety, we came through from a alternate universe because they believed they would be safe. Yet, I failed them. I allowed 20,000 people to perish. Men, woman and children just blinked out of existence... the last of the human race from that universe.
Damn!
We were at the final barrier! We eluded the Vulcans, Romulans, Doomsday Machines are who knows else for months in that universe and we finally return to Federation space only to have the Fleet we were protecting lost to some random energy anomaly!
Captain Ecto informs me that this anomaly was the work of a being that calls itself "God" and yet how could any "god" allow innocent people to perish in such a manner. I swear, if we ever get off this rock, I will hunt this thing down and I WILL make it pay for all the death its caused today.
I swear it!

The Corax is currently under tow by the U.S.S. Malta. I admit that I am still getting used to their now being two Kieran Braveharts, the Captain of the Malta and my Chief Medical Officer. Epsilon gave me some long, drawn out conclusion about there being a version of everyone in every alternate universe and basically the Kieran Bravehart on our ship is the alternate universe version of the "prime" Kieran Bravehart who serves Galaxy Fleet Command as Captain of the U.S.S. Malta.
Anyway, we are currently on our way back to Earth Spacedock with the Corax currently in tow. Captain Bravehart remarked how the ship was "tough" due to it surviving atmospheric entry and crashing without completely destroying it. He assures me that he has apprised Starfleet Command of the situation who have a team of engineers standing by to fix her.
They did offer me another vessel or a desk job at Starfleet Command on Earth but I have never really been interested in those things. We have a saying amongst my people...
"Even the Sha'ra, must know when to sleep"
A "Sha'ra" is a large mammal on my homeworld which is large and powerful and is both nocturnal and hunting during the day. It was an urban myth for many years that the Sha'ra did not require sleep however this was proved to be false years ago. The Sha'ra sleeps with its eyes open and can hunt without higher brain functions during its sleep.
Simply put, I will not accept a desk job at headquarters because I know my limits. This is not my world, or my people. I have always preferred life in space.
Although I prefer a life in Starfleet and I have taken a vow to protect the Federation and its ideals at all costs. I never completely agreed with them. Humans are an interesting race, they claim to adhere to higher ideals however people in this century still commit crimes, still murder people and it does make you wonder what humanity is when they call my people "beasts".
Humans are by no means perfect but its actually their resolution in times of adversity and their frankly amazing resourcefulness that makes them such an interesting species. Earth has seen its fair share of wars but today, it is peaceful and tranquil. I have been informed that there is a species similar to my own on Earth but they lack the higher brain functions so humans treat them as beloved pets, adorn them with kindness and respect. I hope they will treat me in the same manner but not patronise me for being the same.
We should arrive at Earth Spacedock by tomorrow I believe, the Malta crew has been extremely helpful with securing the Corax for a warp tow and once we get there, we should be able to go into drydock under our own power.
I do not believe I want a bigger, or more powerful vessel. The Corax has served us well, being originally out of her time. I intend to recommend that Starfleet fully update her systems with modern technology, restore her to her former glory and maybe she can find a new role in Starfleet.
Maybe we all can...

I awoke to find myself in an unfamiliar place, with the smiling face of some Trill looking down at me. He looks familiar to me but I having a hard time remember where or how I have met him.
I appear to be on some small ship, it may be a prison transport of some kind as I am not permitted to leave sickbay. I do not recognise the ship that well, my surroundings are familiar though. It is like a blurry image where I just cannot see the whole picture.
The Doctor, who keeps referring to me as "Admiral" despite my rank being "Captain". I find it most distressing, where are the rest of the crew and where are we heading?
I snuck out of sickbay today, to get a better look at my surroundings while the Doctor was busy working. This is definately a ship of Starfleet design but I sware I have never been on one like this. Its so cramped, Starfleet vessels are usually quite spacious.
I have asked to see Commander Luna multiple times and be returned to Pinastri Prime, to which I have been met with only a look of confusion on the Doctor's face.
It is entirely possible that this ship is not actually a Starfleet vessel at all but an alien deception for some purpose. Therefore, I must attempt to escape their custody. It is completely possible that this is the actions of the Pax Magellanic who had the ability to take human hosts. However I cannot get to a Tricorder to test my hypothesis.
The Doctor has kept asking me where we currently are, to which I only say that we are in the Delta Quadrant. I do not know why he keeps asking me this as I'm pretty sure he would probably know the answer.
A young grey-skinned man came to fix the replicator in sickbay today and I sware he looks like somebody I know. He seemed to be worried about something, could it be possible that the aliens are monitoring my thoughts and know that I do not believe them?
I am told I am being taken to Earth but that is totally impossible since the Khitomer Wormhole collapsed when United Federation Starfleet was formed and Earth is some 70,000 Lightyears from Pinastri Prime, where I joined Starfleet so it is pretty obvious that this is some kind of deception.
However I also feel strange. Places, names and details are slipping away from me one by one and I find myself struggling to remember things that I was certain I knew.
What are these imposters doing to me!?

Duty Doctor Kathyleen McRendrick reporting...
The Admiral is in a severe but stable condition, unfortunately however the virus has moved to his medial-temporal region which has resulted in a severe amnesia and heightened emotional outbursts. He has been sedated four times with considerably increased dosages each time.
We have moved him to the Deep Space Nine infirmary for a more detailed observation then the Corax's medical facilities could provide. I have never seen a virus which such a long gestation period and with such quickly developing neurological symptoms.
The crew of the USS Corax believe that the Admiral should be taken back to his own people however Starfleet remains unconvinced. The Argussians are in another galaxy and we still do not understand the engine that brought the Admiral here in the first place.
The Admiral has stopped responding to the neurotransmitter therapy regiment and there seems to be nothing more that can be done for him but palliative medical care. I cannot truly say what it is like to see such a proud figure deterioate into a shadow of his former self. Many nights he will be in bouts of fury over minor issues and others he will sob himself to sleep. Losing yourself must be the hardest thing to come to terms with...
I am not sure I could...

Duty Doctor Kathyleen McRendrick reporting...
The Admiral has almost completely lost all coherent thought patterns. His cognitive and phsyiological reflexes have been considerably slowed by the progress of the disease. However I have made a startling discovery that I must report to Doctor Braveheart immediately.
It appears that this virus is not actually a "virus" at all but a micro-parasite with extra-dimensional properties. It seems to exist outside normal spacetime which is why we cannot originally detect it and probably why the Argussian people are unaware of its prescence. It appears to live in symbiosis with the Argussian species but eventually grows to the point where it needs to consume neuro-electrical energy to survive, essentially "consuming" grey matter within the Admiral's brain.
I believe that these parasites are possibly native to the world that the Argussians are living on and it began with the infection of a single member of the species which has developed over many thousands of years. These organisms are capable of self-replication through a form of cellular mitosis and infect the sperm of the male Argussian with foriegn microorgasims which mean that all children born on Argussia carry this form of disease.
However upon close examination of the base pair sequences of the parasites (I had to use a phased microresonater in order to complete an analysis as they are unable to be seen with the naked eye or conventional medical equipment), I have discovered that these parasites have been artifically genetically engineered, for what purpose, I am unsure.
It is possible that the only major enemy of the Argussian people, the Etherium Matriarchy which the Admiral said had destroyed their original homeworld could be responsible but this is a significant feat of bio-engineering.
Using this information, I believe I can rig a portable phase discriminator which will allow the Admiral to retain a few of his memories (depending on how much of his brain has been damaged) by suppressing the parasites efforts to consume grey matter however this would only work as a temporary stopgap.
I believe a cure may be possible but it would require using some form of advanced cloning and a complete resquence of the Admiral's base DNA something that may prove to be a little too late now and is currently beyond our level of technology.

Doctor Braveheart has checked me over and it seems I am no worse for wear from my experience with the Tholians. It seems that they were eager to get their hands on some Argussian technology, the knowledge of which has been encoded into my genetics like all of my species. I do wonder what would happen in the Tholians were able to get their hands on such technology.
Solaris Station informs me that the Corax is unable to be repaired due to the massive structural damage that several of her coaxial jumps have inflicted on the ship and will be decommissioned. I argued with the station commander for about an hour, I knew it was hopeless to salvage her but she has been a good ship for us, for a long while.
Starfleet tells me that it may be up to a year until I recieve another command as they want to look over the Corax's mission logs, as they do whenever a ship is lost or damaged beyond repair. I expect this process to be somewhat lengthy and drawn out with some awkard questions being asked. Starfleet has completely denied the presence of the Corax at the recent True Way Insurrection over Cardassia Prime and I believe that the Corax's loss was a blessing for them, they seem eager to forget about her and move on.
In the meantime, I have been in contact with a group of my people who have fled Argus and have come here seeking refuge. They bring troubling news that my people finally lost the war with the Etherium Matriarchy and my homeworld has been occupied. I must admit, I do not feel that glum because of these events. Earth has become more a home to me and the Federation is worth more to protect then my arrogant species every were.
I have decided to take some shore leave to help my species locate a sutible planet, the Federation Council have given permission for the refugees to settle within Federation space and the third planet of the Veridian planet has seemed pretty promising. Starfleet is somewhat worried about cultural contamination of Veridian IV, which supports a pre warp society and has restricted some travel within areas of the system, any presence on Veridian IV is completely unacceptable.
I will continue to help my people apply for protectorate status within the Federation, I am sure that my work within Starfleet has helped pave the way for better understanding between our two cultures. There will be difficult challenges ahead but I hope that my people and my adopted family can come together finally and forge a better future for us all.

Chief D'kmal informs me that the Avenger will soon be able to get underway again. The Borg Vessel has left the Mutara Nebula and resumed its course towards Sector 001.
The damage to our deflector has been extreme, much of the particle emitter has been destroyed due to the Borg's feedback pulse but Commander Tempest and Commander Epsilon are still convinced that anti-proton radiation in a sufficient amount would weaken the semi-organic hull of the Borg vessel enough for conventional weapons to damage it.
However with our deflector is such a bad shape, it seems unlikely that we will be to reach warp velocity before any help arrives with a replace particle emitter. I have therefore ordered the ship back into the nebula to preclude the possibility of us being targeted by any alien species eager for a new piece of hardware.
I must admit, I find myself worrying if the Fleet will really be able to stop this threat before they reach the MIDAS array, or worse... Earth. This vessel is unlike any Borg vessel I have seen before with the ability to convert matter into a data-stream for easy assimilation. We have already watched Pacifica fall, would Earth be any different?
However I continue to remain positive for the crew who all look like they could use an extended r&r visit to Risa. I am pretty sure that when all this is over, if it is over, I shall be spending a few weeks on Veridian III with my people. I can hope for the future.

The Avenger is currently in pursuit of the Fluidic Borg vessel and the Fleet's attempt to stop it in the Braslota system proved to be unsuccessful. Although we are all focused on ways to stop them, I fear that my crew are starting to feel the pressure and creeping hopelessness from the situation.
Starfleet Command has given us one last shot, an experimental technology which may be able to disrupt the Fluidic Borg's attempts to use the Argus Array to generate a transwarp portal that will allow traditional Borg ships to enter Federation space.
There is also the very real opportunity that the Borg will reconfigure the long range telescope abilities of the Array to generate a powerful signal to tap into the Borg Collective and reestablish contact with them.
Obviously, we cannot allow this happen and may be forced to destroy the array before this vessel can use it. We cannot allow what these Borg have learned to seep into the main collective, if that happens, we would be facing an unstoppable armada of these types of ships.
Another Starfleet vessel is being fitted with the experimental projector that we will believe will successfully implode the Transwarp Conduit that the Borg will attempt to create.
Captain Bateson was a dear friend of mine and the loss of the Atlas as well as the Fleet is weighing heavily on my mind. The fact that these beings are willing to destroy with no regard for life, even my people do not approach that level of apathy.
The mood on the ship is one of somber reflection for those we have lost however there is an emerging hope that we may be successful. Everyone on the crew is willing to sacrifice their lives to see this mission completed and to protect the Federation and her values.
Its funny... if you had told me ten years ago that I would be putting my life on the line to save an alien civilization, I would have laughed at you. I was so selfish back then, I did not believe the Federation could become what it is to me now. It has become my home and the future of my people. A future I will fight to protect.

Captain's Log
Stardate: 160823
After speaking with Starbase Alexandria II commander, Epsilon, a former member of the crew of the Paladin. We have both agreed that the Paladin should investigate the strange absence of life on all the nearby planetary systems.
Many of these planets have ruins of some sort on the surface but the planets themselves appear to be completely devoid of life, considering that many of them are located in the habitable zone and have the characteristics of traditional M-Class worlds.
A new Romulan exchange officer will be joining us when the USS Birmingham arrives with a fresh new continent of Federation vessels to help bolster our defenses around Alexandria Colony since the Courageous accident.
Alexandria II Starbase has also been working on an ambitious new project to start creating their own ships, chiefly the USS Republic NCC-1371 which should be completed within the month. The Republic is an impressive ship and will be the first vessel created by Alexandria II and will greatly help bolster our forces due to our distance to the Federation border.
The Paladin is currently taking on fresh supplies from the Starbase. Doctor Braveheart has specifically asked for Sickbay to be stocked with various experimental compounds in order to continue his research into the biologically engineered plague that effected Captain Frostmane and the Argussian race.
We should be able to leave orbit in a few days to continue our exploration of this distant sector beyond Federation space.

Captain's Log
Stardate: 160912
There has been no sign of pursuit since we were forced to abandon Alexandria and Alexandria II Station in orbit. Our new Romulan exchange officer was able to call in a small contingent of warbirds to assist us and we are now in the process of escorting the evacuation shuttles to the nearest Federation facility at Deep Space 5, which happens to be a good few days away at maximum warp.
However my mind is casting back to the verdict of the trial and although the trial was halted due to the bombardment of the surface by the alien vessels, I have been informed that the verdict would have been guilty.
Now I stand at a division...
I need to find some way to prove my innocence to Starfleet and clear up this terrible mess. I would be lying if I didn't say that I, at least felt some measure of responsibility for the destruction of that world.
Counselor Mewsin tells me not to worry. She believes that Colony Administrator and Federation Fleet Admiral, Pablo Ramirez is psychologically unstable. I cannot say that I disagree with her. We all watched the Admiral flee the USS Paladin before it exploded in the recent attack. It does make me wonder if I could call for a mistrial under Federation law when we make it back.
The Republic is entirely different animal then the Paladin was. The Paladin was an old, seat of the pants technology starship that was always overworked, the Republic, on the other hand is totally new and experimental, with just as many things that could go wrong with it. Chief D'kmal informs me that the plasma injectors have repeated frozen due to the lack of control sequencers which had not even been installed yet.
The engineering team of the USS Fuku Jion has been invaluable in providing the Chief with the parts needed to bring the engines to full efficiency and so far, the Republic has not proven to be that problematic.
Only time will tell if our luck will continue...
