ATTACK ON CARDASSIA
There has been an explosion in New Lakarian City this morning at around 11:00 Cardassian Time. The "Gul Kintar Memorial Offices" were destroyed by two unknown explosive weapons which appeared have been transported in from an orbital starship.
"Its a disaster!" said Gul Tareen of the 4th Order. "Security should have been in place, it seems as though somebody deactivated the transporter pattern scrambler which usually keeps the building safe from attacks."
Botanist Elim Garek was first on the scene this morning and spoke to our Cardassian correspondant this morning. "Well, I don't know what our government is thinking. To allow such madness to go unpunished in unthinkable... personally... I think that Central Command should have been more careful"
Cardassian authorities are still trying to sort through the rubble and no terrorist group has yet claimed responsibilty for the attack. But the mood on the street is that the Cardassian people now feel vulnerable and angry in a city that has seen so much terror on the streets already.
We have to ask, is this just the beginning of a new wave of violence to sweep across Cardassia?

::Legate Gretal Visits Deep Space Nine::
Cardassian Statesman and accomplished military general Legate Gretal attends a Federation diplomatic conference on Deep Space Nine.
Captain Kira Nerys was unavaliable to comment however Admiral William J Ross during a press conference stated that Federation aid to Cardassia would continue in light of the terrorist attack last week that claimed so many Cardassian lives.
Legate Gretal is due to be on Deep Space Nine for the remainder of the week discussing additional aid the Federation can provide against the True Way Terrorist Group.
::Old Tensions Flare on the Federation Border::
Colonists on the Cardassian/Federation border have become discontent with the recent promise of more Federation aid to the Cardassians and the possibility of Cardassian refugees from True Way occupied planets settling within Federation space for their protection.
"Has everyone forget the Dominion War?" said Benjamin Harron, a colonist from the planet Marva IV. "The Cardassians willingly sold their souls to the Dominion, killing hundreds of our friends and family to wipe out the Maquis. We will never forgive them for that"
Although no Cardassian vessels have been attacked, Marva IV and several other planets in the former demilitarized zone along the border have refused to take in Cardassian refugees from this crisis.

CIVIL WAR BREAKS OUT ON CARDASSIA!
Cardassia Prime is in shock and awe today when two high ranking members of Castellan Elim Garek's Detapa Council have come out with an attempted uprising on the troubled planet.
Gul Matan and Gul Madred, two high ranking members of the Cardassian Civil Defense Force (Formally Cardassian Central Command) are believed to have staged the coup in Central City.
Both are presumed to have assassinated most of the current Depata Council, Castellan Elim Garek, who was not present at the time has vowed to bring all of Cardassia's might to bare on these traitors.
Federation starships remain on high alert as Federation ambassadors have been recalled to Earth, severing any diplomatic ties to the troubled state. The Cardassian Government has claimed that this is for their own protection but have refused any future Federation assistance.
All Cardassian officers currently serving on Starfleet vessels are cut off from their homeland and have been ordered to return in defense of Cardassia or be considered a traitor.
With tensions mounting and small skirmishes detected within Cardassian space between True Way and Cardassian Military Vessels, there is a good chance that this could develop into full scale war.
The question remains, how did the True Way amass such a large fleet of vessels so quickly and what could this rise in terrorism mean for the Federation and the Alpha Quadrant.

STARFLEET OFFICER CHARGED WITH TREASON
Warrent Officer Cade Skymaller, previously of Starfleet Intelligence has been accused of treason against both the United Federation of Planets and the Cardassian Union.
Mr Skymaller was immediately arrested by Starfleet Security when the U.S.S. Corax, a small survey ship, assigned to catalogue spatial anomalies near the Badlands.
"Starfleet Security cannot comment on an ongoing investigation" said Starfleet Security representative, Commander Orianna Kallina at a press conference on Deep Space Nine this morning. Starfleet Security denied all questions put to them about the case.
An insider source in Starfleet has told us that Mr Skymaller has been accused of aiding True Way rebels by supplying them with Federation Quantum Torpedo specifications to improve the firepower of their fleet.
With an intense Civil War currently raging in Cardassian space, the Cardassian Goverment has demanded his immediate extridition to the Cardassian Union. The True Way are currently inflicting massive damage on the Government Forces with the destruction of the Terakos IV Military Base this morning.
All civilian Federation ships have been ordered to not enter Cardassian Space under any conditions and Starfleet has formed a blockade along the border to ensure that rogue colonists do not attack Cardassian vessels in retribution for the destruction of the U.S.S. Cupid last week.
The U.S.S. Cupid was an Olympic Class Medical Vessel that was destroyed by Cardassian True Way forces, over four hundred humans and wounded Cardassians are missing, presumed dead after repreated searches of the area.
Our sources can confirm that Cade Skymaller is indeed being help in detention at Deep Space Nine, awaiting a general court martial. Starfleet has sent a special envoy to quell Cardassian concerns over the trial.

GUILTY!
Starfleet Intelligence operative, Warrant Officer Cade Skymaller was convicted of treason last night despite circumstantial evidence by a special hearing at the Jadia Triellis Detention Centre on Bajor.
Judge Advocate General, Admiral Onami served as judge during the trial, talking in a press conference on Deep Space Nine, she said, "I do not believe that justice was served today, I do not personally believe that Warrant Officer Skymaller was responsible due to the lack of evidence and I suggest that there might be something else going on here."
Warrant Officer Cade Skymaller is currently being held on the surface of Bajor pending his extradition to the Cardassian Union next week. There have been some protests in the Essex town of Colchester and through much of the United Kingdom on Earth who feel that Mr Skymaller was unfairly targeted for this crime.

ROGUE STARFLEET OPERATIVE ESCAPES CUSTODY!
Former Starfleet Intelligence Operative Cade Skymaller has escaped from the Jadia Triellis Detention Centre on Bajor.
The former Warrant Officer, serving aboard the U.S.S. Corax is believed to have escaped at some time during the nightwatch. He is believed to have stolen a Bajoran Impulse Raider and has left the planet Bajor.
Skymaller, 28 was charged yesterday with treason against the Federation and attempting to supply the True Way with covert communications containing sensitive Federation technology blueprints.
He was due to be extradited to the Cardassian Union within a week.
Prison Warden, Lieutenant Commander Teska LoMarr said this; "We are doing all that is possible to hunt down this fugitive and bring him to justice. All Starbases and Orbital Facilities have been alerted and the general public is to consider him armed and extremely dangerous."
Starfleet Command has ordered that the U.S.S. Corax remains at Deep Space Nine pending an investigation as it is currently believed that one of the Corax crew may have helped Cade Skymaller escape to one of the moons of Bajor.
Skymaller was also believed to have written across his cell wall "I'm innocent!" suggesting that he may be trying to find a way to prove his innocence. When asked about this, Warden LoMarr denied there was any writing on the cell wall and refused further questions.
Admiral Onami, who proceeded as judge at the Skymaller trial also denied the possibility of Skymaller's innocence when questioned and refused to give access to the trail evidence under Starfleet directives.

THE NEW FACE OF THE TRUE WAY!
As the Cardassian Civil War rages with no end in sight, events took a surprising turn today when Gul Madred annouced that he would be stepping down as leader of the purist Cardassian faction, the True Way.
The announcement was intercepted by Deep Space Nine on a secure Cardassian frequency that Legate Matan would be assuming command of the True Way, that currently controls over half the Cardassian Union.
Nothing is known about Legate Matan, he was considered a minor ranking official, a member of House Arterius and son to infamous Gul Matan who attempted to form an alliance with the Kessok people, leading to the destruction of the Vesuvi Star System in 2377.
House Arterius was officially disbanded by the Cardassian Union after Gul Matan's ship was destroyed by the U.S.S. Sovereign in an attempt to us the Kessok Solar Probe to destroy the star in Omega Draconis System.
However his son, Legate Matan has declared that the True Way will drive all "Federation Sympathizers" to their death and will not rest until they have claimed Cardassia Prime for the True Way.
With the True Way currently unleashing a barrage of experimental Quantum Torpedoes on the unsuspected Cardassian military fleet, it seems their victory is assured.

CARDASSIA UNDER SIEGE!
Cardassia's skies were the sight of a major battle today between the faction of the Cardassian military and the True Way led by Legate Matan. The True Way ships, outfitted with new Quantum Torpedoes which were developed after the plans that were stolen by former Warrant Officer Cade Skymaller.
Over twenty Galor and Keldon Class Cardassian vessels engaged in the conflict above Cardassia resulting in heavy losses to the Cardassian Military who have formally requested Federation assistance in the conflict in a secure message to Deep Space Nine just this morning.
The True Way have been making impressive headway in their battle with the Cardassian Government since they acquired their new weaponry and it seems likely that the planet will fall to the terrorist faction.
Admiral Alynna Nechayev said; "Its a complete disaster. Due to Starfleet's mandate of non-interference, the Federation are unable to assist the Cardassian government at this time."
Things look grim for the people of free Cardassia as oppression from the True Way will mean reverting back to the Cardassian Government before the Dominion War and an era of ruthless expansion, xenophobia and the return of the Obsidian Order, including the True Way's threat of taking back Bajor and Deep Space Nine (Formally Terok Nor).
Activity in the Trivas System has been on the rise for several months and it is believed that the True Way are using the abandoned station Empok Nor as their main strategic command base, giving them easy access to Cardassia Prime itself.
It is believed that Legate Matan is simply a puppet leader for a more shadowy organization that has reportedly set up cults devoted to the Bajoran entities, the Pah Wriath, enemies of the Prophet Wormhole Aliens that currently inhabit the Bajoran Wormhole.
With the Cardassian Military taking massive casualties, it seems that there will not be much time before the Depata Council surrenders to the terrorist group.

CARDASSIA SURRENDERS!
The scene was one of desperation this morning when Cardassia's Detapa Council formally announced its surrender to the True Way. True Way Forces were able to gain the upper hand on the Cardassian Military by launching a devastating attack on Cardassia with a Hutet Class Dreadnought.
The Hutet Class vessel, believed to have been constructed in secret at an old Obsidian Order shipyard in the Orias System, was equipped with the new type of experimental Cardassian Quantum Torpedoes, derived from the plans stolen by ex-Starfleet Intelligence Officer, Cade Skymaller.
Legate Matan praised his troops in a speech delivered on wide-ban subspace this morning. "My brave Cardassians... On this day, Cardassia says "NO MORE" to the will of the Federation. We have paid for the Dominion War with our blood, our people will be made whole again!"
Legate Matan has gathered a significant number of supporters from within the actual Cardassian Military, causing Castellan Elim Garek to escape to alternate site where the remaining Cardassian Military will try to retake their homeland.
However, for the moment, it seems that Legate Matan's hold on the Cardassian Union is holding steady as Cardassian ships patrol the border, just waiting for the order to push over into Federation space.
