::Background Information::
The Serbex, otherwise known as "Ceroscanis jubatus", is a maned, horned canine species. Not strictly a carnivore, they also are a fruit eater. Visually they are very distinctive. Males have a pair of large curved horns, accompanied by two long slender ears. A prominent facial feature are their tusks which jut out from their lower jaw. Females have more sloped horns, their ears short, and their tusks are stubbed instead of pointed. They are a clan type race. They live in different packs, which based on their preference, usually habitate areas that they're most accustomed to or enjoy. These types of areas could range between anything like jungles to swamps, plains or valleys, or even along the coast. As a species they're very resiliant and can be found in even the harshest of environments due to their high ability to adapt to their surroundings.
However, they are very territorial. It's rare when packs will mingle with others, usually preferring to stay within their own, however it does occasionally happen. Pack numbers usually range within the 50's, to even the 100's, for a sufficiently healthy group, although you do see smaller more close-knit packs trying to start their own. Leadership is usually male, though on rare occasions you might find a female acting as a leader instead. In the begining, their tusks were used as a tool for fighting during territorial disputes, however as they've become more intelligent, they usually resolve these issues in a matter of discussion, or even trade. However there are a few select, more primal, packs that still live by the old method of fighting , these are usually the more dangerous Serbexes to encounter. In those types of agressive societies, the males with the largest tusks will fight until there's a winner, thereafter making them the current leader.
The life of a Serbex isn't all politics and territorial fights however. One of their more noticble attributes, their tail, is used in a variety of ways. Like fireflys, they use these tails to attract mates. In the past, it would be that simple. However now they've become more intricate in the process, using the pulsing lights and radiating glow in various ceremonies to find their partners. This mating ritual event will usually last a course of 3 to 4 days. Both young adult males and females will have to undergo a mental training, remembering the specific way to perform what is almost like a artistic dance. During the event, both sexes will dance along, and with, eachother in a group. Night after night they'll perform their ritualistic dance, trying to impress one another, until the right pair will meet up, forming a bond that will usually last their lifetime. It's common for Serbexes to mate for life, although there are the odd chance that things come up in the future and result in a seperation, however this is extremely rare.
