The planet of Pacifica has been totally vaporised by the Fluidic Borg, converting all the matter on the planet into a datastream and then absorbing that into their vessel with the Avenger only arriving in time to witness the horror.
With main Federation fleet still a few days away, the Avenger crew must make a choice on how to proceed. This new type of Borg vessel threatens the very existence of the Federation and the crew must either hope that the top secret Transphasic torpedoes are effective at stopping this enemy or die trying.
With a massive decision, affecting the lives of millions, Captain Diamond Frostmane orders the Avenger to play a dangerous game of cat and mouse in a nearby nebula while attempt to by time for Starfleet's forces to arrive.
